What to Do If Your Camera Doesn't Appear in the App

You've turned on your camera and opened Athlee Coach, but the camera isn't there. Almost always, this means your iPad and your camera aren't on the same Wi-Fi network. The fastest way to fix it is to find out which network your camera is currently on, then connect your iPad to the same one.

Step 1: Check which network your camera is on

On your iPad, open Settings → Wi-Fi and look at the list of available networks. What you see tells you which mode your camera is in:

  1. Athlee-XXXX (random characters): your camera is in reset state.
  2. A named Athlee network, such as Athlee-Streaming or your own club name: your camera is in Mobile Athlee Wi-Fi mode.
  3. Only CamCom-XXXX, with no Athlee network: your camera is on your pool Wi-Fi (or trying to be).

Find your case below.

If you see Athlee-XXXX

Your camera has been reset and is broadcasting its factory network. Connect your iPad to Athlee-XXXX with the password 12345678 and open Athlee Coach. Your camera will appear and you can stream right away.

To give the camera a name and password, or to add it to your pool Wi-Fi, see How to Configure Your Camera's Wi-Fi or How to Connect Your Cameras to Pool Wi-Fi.

If you see a named Athlee network

Your camera is broadcasting its own Mobile Athlee Wi-Fi. Connect your iPad to that network and open Athlee Coach; your camera will appear.

If you expected your camera to be on your pool Wi-Fi, this usually means the pool router wasn't available when the camera powered on, so the camera fell back to its own network. This is normal and by design. To move it back onto the pool Wi-Fi, make sure your pool router is switched on and in range, then restart the camera so it tries again on startup.

If you only see CamCom-XXXX

Your camera is in Pool Wi-Fi mode, so it has joined your pool router and stopped broadcasting its own network. Two quick checks:

  1. Make sure your iPad is connected to the same pool Wi-Fi as your cameras, then reopen Athlee Coach.
  2. If it still doesn't appear, restart the camera in case it missed the pool Wi-Fi at startup.

If your camera still doesn't show up, you can read the exact reason directly from the camera. You'd normally never connect to CamCom, and you can't stream over it, but it's the one place you can check a camera's status when it won't join your pool Wi-Fi.

  1. On your iPad, open Settings → Wi-Fi and connect to CamCom-XXXX. Use the same password as your Mobile Athlee Wi-Fi. If you haven't changed it, that's 12345678.
  2. Open Athlee Coach and go to Menu → Settings → Wi-Fi Management. The camera will show why it didn't join your pool Wi-Fi, such as a wrong password, the network not being found, or an unsupported network type.
  3. If the reason isn't clear, tap the Support option that appears in the menu while you're connected to CamCom. This generates a full log from the camera. Email it to us at support@athlee.com and we'll pinpoint the problem quickly.

When you're done, reconnect your iPad to your pool Wi-Fi to start streaming again.
