Sometimes an iPad will automatically switch away from the Athlee camera’s Wi-Fi and connect to another network, usually one that has internet access (like your pool Wi-Fi). This behavior is built into iOS, which prefers Wi-Fi networks that provide an internet connection.
Why This Happens
- When you first connect your iPad to the Athlee camera’s Wi-Fi (factory default: Athlee-Streaming), it connects correctly.
- After a short while, iOS may look for an internet-connected Wi-Fi and automatically switch the iPad over to it (for example, the pool Wi-Fi).
- This usually happens only once. After reconnecting to the Athlee Wi-Fi, the iPad typically stays connected.
What to Do If It Happens
- Reconnect to the Athlee Wi-Fi from the iPad’s Wi-Fi settings.
• In most cases, this simple reconnection solves the issue. - If the problem persists:
• Go to Settings → Wi-Fi on your iPad.
• Tap the info icon (ⓘ) next to the pool Wi-Fi (or any other internet-connected Wi-Fi nearby).
• Select Forget This Network.
• The iPad will no longer automatically switch to that Wi-Fi. -
⚠️ Note: If you forget a Wi-Fi network, you’ll need to re-enter its password when you want to use it again. That’s why many teams prefer simply reconnecting to the Athlee Wi-Fi when it happens.
Recommended Solution
The best way to avoid this issue entirely is to install a permanent pool Wi-Fi with internet access.
- When the cameras are connected to a pool Wi-Fi that also has internet, iOS will not try to switch away, because the network already provides an internet connection.
- This creates a seamless experience for all iPads and cameras.
